Trumbull High’s boys track team improved to 6-0 on the season with wins in the rain over Greenwich (92-58) and Ridgefield (110-36).
Trumbull assistant coach Shawn Tait said, "These guys are excellent in bad conditions and it showed today. If it is raining, it is our kind of meet."
The meet against Greenwich was close until the Eagles ran away with the victory thanks to points in the 800, 200, triple jump, shot put and discus. The team also took all three relays (4x800, 4x100, 4x400) against both opponents.
Thang Dao scored 23 overall points, the most of any athlete in the competition, with first-place finishes in the 100, 200, 4x100 and 4x400. His 200 time of 23.3 is one of the best so far this season in the FCIAC.
Other winners in their individual events included: Jack Jones (long jump 20-11.5 and triple jump 39-2), Robert Allen (discus 115-3),Tyler Gleen (800 1:58), Kyle Marlin (shot put 38-5) and Jeff Delgado (pole vault 9-6).
The Eagles will travel to Danbury on Tuesday, May 10, to take on the best team in the state in the form of the Hatters, as well as the Staples Wreckers.
