The Trumbull High boys track team finished third out of a field of 27, and second against Class LL schools at the 36th annual O’Grady Relays in Danbury.

“This was our highest finish in years, which truly speaks for the talent and depth that we have on this team,” head coach Nick Banks said.

The Eagles were led by a second-place finish in the sprint medley relay with a time of 3:37.44. Dylan Wong, Dylan McInery, Tyler Gleen and Taylor Auten broke the previous THS record.

“We have been trying to break this record for years and this is the only meet where we can run it all season, so it was nice finally see it fall,” Banks said.

The other second-place finish of the day belonged to the discus trifecta of Andrew Bont, Kyle Marlin and Robert Allen. Their total of 352-07, and a third-place finish in the triple jump relay (115-11.50), was enough to catapult the Eagles into third place overall.

Banks said, “We were in the middle of the pack before these last two field events, and the fact that we scored fourteen points in these two really helped improve our overall standing.”

In non-scoring events from Friday, the team of Gleen, Auten, Charlie Taubl and Jack Tinker set another school record with a time of 18:57.65, finishing second in the 4x1600 relay.

Trumbull will next meet Greenwich and Ridgefield at Greenwich High School on Tuesday.
