The Trumbull High boys tennis team opened its season with Staples of Westport on Wednesday.

Coach Vanessa Costeines said, “As a first match of the season we had a tough opponent, but I am very pleased with how all the players played. Although we lost 6-1 we were able to bring a win home with Jorge James at the number five single position, who won in three sets.

“Every match counts towards the big picture, and the goal we have set for this year is that we are taking each match as a feedback and not a final verdict.

“We are getting ready for our next match against St Joseph.”

The Eagles will travel to play the Cadets on Friday at 4 p.m.
