Boys soccer: Trumbull wins on PKs, to play Warde

The Trumbull High boys soccer team defeated 35-seeded Norwalk High, 5-4 on penalty kicks, in the first round of the Class LL state tournament on Tuesday.

Connor Jorge hit the winning PK with the tally at 4-4.

Coach Sebe Gangemi’s Eagles (13-4), the third seed, will host Fairfield Warde (11-4-2), the 14 seed, on Thursday at 2 p.m.

Warde defeated No. 19 East Hartford, 1-0, in its first round game. Jonathan Shuster scored the lone goal in the 33rd minute. Matt Skelton had eight saves to record the shutout.

The Eagles and Mustangs played to a 3-3 tie in the regular season.
