Senior forward Cam Pollock scored a pair of third-period goals on Monday night to power the once-beaten Xavier of Middletown boys hockey team to a 3-1 win over St. Joseph in a game played at Wesleyan University’s Spurier-Snyder Rink.

It was the seventh straight win for the Falcons and their second this season over the Cadets. Xavier scored a 4-1 win earlier in the season.

Pollock scored what turned out to be the game-winner at 9:37 with assists going to T.J. Earley and Joel Hotchkiss, before his unassisted score with 20 seconds left iced the win.

Before that, the two teams swapped goals.

St. Joe’s took a 1-0 lead on a goal by freshman Andrew Gilbert on a shot from the point at 13:23 of the opening period. Assisting on the goal were Nick Disabella and Will Foldesi.

A power-play goal by the Falcons’ John Sadak at 6:30 of the second period proved to be the equalizer. The goal came just three seconds after an interference penalty was assessed.

Xavier outshot the Cadets, 29-16, and got 14 shots on goal in the third period.

St. Joe’s freshman goalie Ryan Wilson made 26 saves while the Falcons’ Will McEwen turned aside 15.

The loss evened the Cadets’ record at 3-3 and it was their third loss in the last four games.
