Boys hockey: Wilson stonewalls Darien in semis
Ryan Wilson made 44 saves and sixth-seeded St. Joseph defeated second-seeded Darien High, 2-1, in the FCIAC boys hockey semifinals at Terry Conners Rink in Stamford on Wednesday night.
Coach J.R. Bria’s Cadets (12-9-1) will meet No 1 seed Greenwich High (17-4) for the championship on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Terry Conners Rink.
Sean Attanasio’s goal at the 8:41 mark of the third period broke the tie, with Kyle Parchinski getting the assist.
Sam Knowlton had given Darien (18-4-0) the lead only 1:52 into the contest. Jake Kirby had the assist.
Nick DiSabella, from Adam Usinger and Will Foldesi, knotted the game at 4:40 of the period.
After that it was all Wilson, as he faced 45 shots from the state’s top-ranked team.
Darien’s David Voigt faced 15 shots and had 13 saves.
