St. Joseph’s boys hockey team trailed just 1-0 after one period of play and 2-0 midway through the game, but New Canaan caught fire in the offensive zone as it capitalized on penalties and pulled away for an 8-0 triumph at The Rinks at Shelton on Saturday night.

Cadet goaltender Will Brady did all he could with 36 saves, but the Rams led by two goals apiece from Griffin Dean and Gunnar Granito simply had too much offensive prowess.

Defenseman Liam Gelston played a solid game for St Joseph.

The Cadets were outshot, 44-6.
