Boys hockey: Greenwich defeats St. Joseph, 3-1

The St. Joseph boys hockey team lost a 3-1 decision to Greenwich High in its season opener at the Rinks in Shelton on Monday.

Greenwich is now 1-1.

Alex Mozian gave the Big Red a 1-0 lead at the 2:53 mark of the second period.

Matt Baugher, from Connor Santry and Nick Martinelli-Pelletier, took the score to 2-0 at 3:13 of the third.

The Cadets’ Evan Bocchino halved the margin at 11:09 with Andrew Van Etten getting the assist.

Greenwich’s Matt Davy, from Oliver Fulton, scored at 11:42.

GHS led in shots, 37-33.

St. Joseph’s Ryan Wilson had 34 saves.

GHS’ Dylan Dreher had 32 stops.
