The St. Joseph boys cross country team defeated Norwalk and Stamford on Tuesday afternoon at St. Joseph.  The Cadets (4-5) defeated Norwalk, 26-30, and Stamford, 20-36. Warde won the quad meet, defeating St. Joseph, 19-44.

Senior Jack Moulder was the first Cadet finisher, placing third overall in 18 minutes, 10 seconds.  Teammate junior Brian Dineen placed 13th overall in 19:14. St. Joseph also got strong finishes from junior Anthony Crocco (17th, 19:43), senior Nicholas Russo (18th, 19:51) and sophomore Sean Yankocy (19th, 19:55).

"We had some really strong performances today," said St. Joseph coach David Scrivines. "A handful of our runners set personal records today, which is great for us."

Sophomore Michael Zannis placed 24th overall in 20:22, followed by sophomore Garrett Kalker (29th, 20:55) and sophomore Manuel Garzon (32nd, 20:59). Sophomore Dante Criscio placed 37th in 21:07 and senior John Wypychoski placed 48th overall in 21:49.

Additional finishers for St. Joseph included: sophomore Ben Kallsen (52nd, 23:00), freshman Paul Fabbri (53rd, 23:09), freshman Jason Paul (54th, 23:24), freshmen Shane Fitzgerald (55th, 23:25), freshman Tim Gavrish (57th, 24:27), sophomore Luke Healy (58th, 24:30), sophomore Igor Poliwoda (59th, 26:59), freshman Ethan Novicio (60th, 27:38), and freshman Jarell Estemil (61st, 28:23).

St. Joseph returns home Wednesday, Oct. 5, for its final home meet. The Cadets face Trumbull, Staples and Westhill in a 4:30 p.m. boys varsity start.
