The Christian Heritage School boys basketball team defeated long-time rival, and fellow Housatonic Valley Athletic League member, Master’s School from West Simsbury 69-61 in front of a packed gym on Friday.

CHS got off to a slow start, but came out of the first half with a five-point lead. The Kingsmen pulled away for moments of the second half, but the Lions from Master’s kept pulling it close again.

Finally, in the closing minutes, due to some great defense by Clay Westermann and Matt Bruening, the Kingsmen went up six points and never looked back.

Earlier in the day, Faith Prep (New Milford) defeated Emmanuel Christian (Newington), earning a spot in the Christian Heritage Christmas Tournament finals.
