Baseball: Trumbull Legion wins opener, 10-0

The American Legion baseball season is underway, and Trumbull Post 141 won 10-0 at home last night over Bridgeport Legion.

The locals started off with four consecutive hits and never looked back.

Brian Hnatuk pitched the first four for the win (two hits, four strikeouts, walk).

Justin Waldek pitched the fifth, striking out the three batters he faced.

Kris DiCocco and Jack Lynch had two-run singles in the first.

DiCocco also doubled in the fourth.

With his sacrifice fly in the second, Lynch had three RBIs on the night.

Matt Fasoli and Simon Whiteman had three hits each for Trumbull. (Trumbull had 14-hit attack). Fasoli and Di Cocco also scored three runs a piece.

Game ended in fifth due to mercy rule.

After an off day today, the club is back against Bridgeport Thursday (Trumbull HS 5:30 p.m.) and Friday (5:30 at Seaside Park).
