Baseball: Trumbull Legion defeats Bridgeport, 4-0

Trumbull Post 141 posted its second consecutive shutout to open the American Legion Zone IV baseball season with a 4-0 victory over Bridgeport on Thursday

Chris O’Brien went the first four innings, giving up two hits and striking out 10.

Jack Lynch pitched the final three frames, striking out five and not allowing a hit.

Trumbull scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning.

With one out, Simon Whiteman walked and stole second. Kris DiCocco walked and they executed a double steal.

Whiteman scored on a wild pitch and Mat Fasoli singled in DiCocco.

In the second, Dustin Siqueira was hit by a pitch and Whiteman had an RBI double.

Trumbull made it 4-0 in the sixth.

With one out, Vin DeRubeis reached on an error and Tony Sicci singled. by shortstop. They advanced a base on a groundout and DeRubeis scored on a wild pitch.

The third and final game of the series will be at 5:30 today at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.
