Top-seeded St. Joseph and No. 4 seed Trumbull will meet in the FCIAC softball quarterfinals on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The site has been changed to St. Joseph, the higher seed. No. 2 Ludlowe and No. 3 Staples will play at 5. St. Joseph defeated No. 9 Danbury 11-0 in its quarterfinal game. Trumbull blanked No. 5 Stamford 4-0. St. Joseph\u2019s Maddy Fitzgerald (5 RBIs), Lauren Wasikowski (3 RBIs) and Janelli Pratt (2 RBIs) each hit home runs for coach Jeff Babineau\u2019s 17-0 Cadets. Wasikowski allowed only one hit (Kaylee Drago) and struck out 12. Trumbull\u2019s Mackenzie Bruggeman allowed only a seventh-inning single to Kim Saunders when coach Jacqui Sheftz\u2019s Eagles improved to 13-4. Bruggeman struck out nine. Lianna Weaver was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Jenna Duffy had a double and two RBIs. Trumbull scored a run in the third and three in the fifth.
