Unbeaten Darien tops Trumbull in FCIAC field hockey

Ryan Hapgood scored three goals to lead top-ranked Darien past Trumbull, 5-1, in a FCIAC field hockey contest at DHS Stadium.

Hapgood scored her goals in the first half to help stake the Blue Wave, now 10-0, to a commanding 4-0 lead.

Blake Wilks and Raina Johns each scored one goal for Darien.

Madelyn Hult had two assists.

Kayla Barbagallo tallied Trumbull’s lone goal, converting off a nifty move with 6:12 remaining in the game.

Lexi Santoro assisted.

Trumbull goalie Jenny Flynn made 15 saves.

Trumbull (5-4-2 overall) returns to action on Monday when it travels to play St. Joseph at 4 p.m.
