Mohammed Abunar placed fourth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:32.25 for Trumbull at the Class LL boys’ indoor track championship meet.

“I’m really pleased with the boys' effort,” said coach Shawn Tait, now in his fourth season. “We had some underclassmen who had never run in a big meet really step up. The team battled very hard and had a few events just miss the State Open by one place. Every year we have improved and climbed higher in the league and state rankings.”

Evan Dadson finished fifth with a time of 8.46 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles.

Elliot Miller took fifth with a high jump of 5-8 feet.

Sebastian Perez, Liam O’Keefe, Freud-Williams Maignan and Miller were sixth in the 4x200 relay.

Varujan Edwards, Jaden Marti, Perez and Nathan Baldero placed sixth in the 1600 sprint medley.

Maignan placed 11th in the 600-meter run. Angelo Pisacreta placed 14th in the shot put.

Tait said: “Overall it has been a great season. I am very proud of these boys for how they have shown up and put the work in every day. We are building something here at Trumbull High. We are producing quality athletes that understand what it takes to compete at the highest of levels.

“Currently on our roster we have a number of athletes that will be competing next year in college and there is no doubt we have even more that will be competing for college teams in the distant future,” he added.

“My captains, Elliot Miller and Bronson Vo, have been great and have done a great job keeping the morale of the team high and keeping the guys focused. I am very excited to see what the future brings.”
