Trumbull field hockey tops Westhill as Carbone scores 2 goals

Senior Maura Carbone scored two goals as visiting Trumbull defeated Westhill, 2-0, in a FCIAC field hockey contest at J. Walter Kennedy Stadium.

After a scoreless first quarter, Carbone got the Eagles on the scoreboard when she converted off a nice feed from classmate Kayla Barbagallo with 9:59 left. Carbone added her second goal of the game in the fourth quarter, scoring off an assist from senior Gabby Margolies. Carbone now has a team-high seven goals on the season.

Cadence Jagodzinski kept Westhill in the game, making 17 first-half saves in goal. Jagodzinski finished with 25 saves for the game. Jenny Flynn made one save for Trumbull.

Trumbull (4-1-1, 3-1 in FCIAC) returns to action on Thursday when it hosts FCIAC-rival New Canaan (4-1) at 7 p.m.
