Trumbull field hockey defeats McMahon

Juniors Kayla Barbagallo and Maura Carbone each scored two goals and sophomore Erin Foley added one goal and two assists when the Trumbull field hockey team opened up the 2021 season with a 6-1 victory over Brien McMahon at Casagrande Field.

It was the Eagles’ 13th consecutive victory, dating back to the first game of the 2020 season.

Foley and Barbagallo, with goals 67 seconds apart, gave Trumbull a 2-0 late in the first half. Carbone, off a nice feed from Foley midway through the second quarter, made it 3-0.

Barbagallo and Carbone tallied goals in the third quarter.

Junior Dena Racioppo finished out the scoring with her first career goal with 6:50 left in the game.

The Eagles outshot the Senators, 16-4.

Jade Marin scored for Brien McMahon.

Trumbull junior Jenny Flynn, making her first varsity start in goal, made three saves.

Leah Pascarelli had seven for Brien McMahon.
