Trumbull defeats Stratford in boys basketball

Connor Johnston scored 22 points and had 12 rebounds to lead Trumbull to a 59-56 victory at Stratford on Wednesday.

Johnston was named tourney MVP after coach Buddy Bray’s Eagles (3-1) handed Stratford (3-1) its first loss.

Trumbull’s first-round game of the tournament with Barlow was cancelled due to COVID protocol.

Stratford defeated Morgan 68-52.

Ray Vicente was selected to the all-tourney team. He scored 13 points with eight assists.

Brian Elmo had 10 points.

Brandon Fowler scored eight points and had seven rebounds.

Stratford was led by Jayquan Kirkland (24 points) and Brady Knorr (19 points).
