Trumbull Babe Ruth to play New London 15s for New England title

Trumbull will play New London in the 15U Babe Ruth New England Regional championship game Wednesday morning at 10 on the Trumbull High varsity field.

Each squad is unbeaten at 4-0.

Trumbull, the host team, defeated Lamprey River (NH) 9-0 in its semifinal.

New London, the Connecticut champion, advanced past Braintree (MA) 12-2.

Sean Francouer scattered six hits, struck out eight, and didn’t walk a batter in his 92-pitch shutout performance.

“Sean helped himself out by lacing a two-run single in the fourth to build the lead to 4-0,” Trumbull coach Mike Buswell said. “Ryan Warner put the game away in the sixth inning by drilling a two-out, three-run double to expand the lead to 9-0.”

Jack Durland, D.J. Amaral and A.J. Albaladejo had hits.

Matthew Wood and Warner scored two runs each.

Jeffrey Kraus had a sacrifice fly and drove in two runs.
