Trumbull 15U advance to New England Babe Ruth semifinals

Trumbull Babe Ruth finished pool A play at 3-0 with its 5-2 victory against Braintree (MA) in the New England Region 15U tournament on Sunday night.

Trumbull, the host team, will play the winner of Pittsfield (MA) vs North Providence-Smithfield (RI) in the semifinals on Tuesday at 1 p.m. All games are at the Trumbull High varsity field.

New London, the Connecticut champion, defeated Maine 11-1 to go 3-0 in pool B. It will play Braintree in a 10 a.m. semifinal.

Winners will meet for the title on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

“Dylan Lamy threw a complete game gem,” Trumbull coach Mike Buswell said of the win over a 2-0 Braintree team. “He scattered eight hits over seven innings and allowed two runs.

“Jeffrey Krauss had the hit of the game. He crushed a three-run double to turn a 1-0 lead to 4-0.”

Jack Durland (double, RBI, run scored, Matthew Wood (double, walk, runs scored) and A.J. Alabaladejo (walk) each had two hits.

Nick Lobuono drove in a run.

Lamy had a double and scored a run.

Ryan Warner and Sean Francoeur scored runs.

Jake Hull had a base hit.
