Stamford boys defeat St. Joseph in back and forth soccer opener

St. Joseph lost a 4-3 decision at Stamford in its boys’ soccer opener on Friday.

Stamford took the lead three times only to have Joe Iazzetta (twice) and Jake Pacacha answer to tie the FCIAC match at 3-all.

Stamford went up 4-3 on a penalty kick with eight minutes remaining.

“Anthony Fiatarone assisted Jake Pacacha with a through ball to side foot the ball into the goal,” St. Joseph coach Thomas Connolly said. “Michael Fiatarone assisted Joe Lazzetta with a throw in. Joe also scored with a header at the near post. Jason Lambert had eight saves. It was a great game end to end.”
