St. Joseph softball comes from behind to defeat Stamford

St. Joseph rallied past Stamford to win a 5-3 decision in Trumbull on Friday.

St. Joseph, ranked third in the GameTimeCt Top 10 poll, is 14-0. Stamford is 9-5.

Stamford took a 2-0 lead into the fourth inning.

St. Joseph scored three times in the home frame and added two runs in the fifth.

Niamh Dougherty hit a home run and a double for the Cadets.

Brittany Mairano had a double.

Jill Guilfoyle, Claire Gardella, Riley McDermott, Dougherty and Mairano drove in runs

Lauren Wasikowski struck out nine in the win.

Charlise Karukas had four of Stamford’s nine hits, including a home run.

Kim Sanders struck out 12.
