St. Joseph hands Staples first girls basketball loss

The St. Joseph girls’ basketball team ended Staples’ nine-game win streak when the Cadets posted a 43-35 victory over the Wreckers in Westport on Wednesday.

Kayleigh Carson was 9 for 12 from the foul line and scored 13 points to go with five assists and three steals for coach Chris Lindwall’s team, now 8-3.

Erika Stephens scored 11 points with nine rebounds and four steals.

Izzy Casucci had eight points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks.

Kirsten Rodriguez had six points and 10 rebounds

Lexie Moskovit scored 11 points and Marley Lopez-Paul 10 for Staples (9-1).
