St. Joseph girls lacrosse upsets Wethersfield in states

No. 10 seed St. Joseph defeated No. 7 seed Wethersfield 18-5 in the first round of the Class M girls lacrosse state tournament.

St. Joseph (11-6) will visit No. 2 seed Sacred Heart Academy (14-1) in Hamden on Friday at 5.

SHA defeated No. 15 seed Lyman Hall 18-6.

Izzy Casucci had four goals in the upset win over Wethersfield.

Meghan Hoynes had seven assists and a goal.

Casey Mayglothling (three), Autumn Murphy (two), Olivia Badeaux (two) and Maddigan Leifer completed the scoring.

Murphy and Leifer each had three assists.

Sam Miller made five saves.

Jamie Condon had three goals for Wethersfield (11-5).
