St. Joseph swept basketball games from host Trumbull in a Playing for a Cure double header on Friday.
St. Joseph girls defeated Trumbull 44-22 in the opener.
Izzy Casucci had 10 rebound, nine points and two blocks for coach Chris Lindwall’s Cadets, who moved to 17-1 overall and 13-0 in the FCIAC with the win. Kayleigh Carson scored 10 points with two 3-pointers. Kate Rudini had seven points, seven rebounds, five assists and four blocks. Dennaye Hinds had 10 rebounds, five points and three steals. Erika Stephens scored seven points.
Emma Gentry scored eight points and Corinn Ouellette five for coach Steve Tobitsch’s Trumbull Eagles, 8-10, 6-7 FCIAC.
St. Joseph boys took a 47-40 lead into the final quarter and played Trumbull even the rest of the way to win 68-61.
Ethan Long scored 17 points, Will Syndor 14, Derek Long 12, Dashawn Hall-Johnson 12 and Johnny Niv nine for coach Kevin Wielk’s 10-6 Cadets.
Connor Johnston scored 23 points to lead coach Buddy Bray’s 5-10 Eagles. Aiden Copeland had 18 points, with two 3-pointers, and Luca Antonio 10.
