St. Joseph boys play overtime hockey games with Ridgefield, Fairfield

St. Joseph had to stay on attack in its FCIAC boys’ hockey overtime losses to Ridgefield and Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe.

Down 2-0 after one period to Ridgefield, St. Joseph rallied back before losing a 7-6 overtime decision on Jan. 5.

Joey Bisson and Andrew Tata each had two goals for St. Joe’s (1-4-0).

Mark Husted-Edwards and Brady Tommasi had goals.

Tata had two assists, Bisson, Jonathan Vitka and Husted-Edwards had one.

Tyler Stiewing made 39 saves.

Eric Pereira and Angelo Ciminiello had two goals each for Ridgefield (4-1), which led in shots 46-33.

Justin Silliman made 27 saves.

St. Joseph scored the first three goals only to see Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe come back to take a 4-3 victory in extra time on Saturday.

Husted-Edwards gave St. Joe’s a 1-0 lead at the 12:34 mark in the first period. Bisson and Johnny Karafa had assists.

Tata, at 3:36, and Karafa, at 4:32, took the margin to three in the second period.

Husted-Edwards, Trevor Kellogg, John McNabola and MJ Torre had assists.

Fairfield’s Noah Kingsley made it 3-1 at 10:26 and Charlie Swanson cut the deficit to 3-2 at the 12:34 mark of the second.

Alex Melillo tied the game with 1:10 remaining in regulation.

James Kohm scored the winner 3:12 into the extra session.

Stiewing had 26 saves.

Neil Roarty made 17 saves for Fairfield (5-1-1).
