St. Joseph boys basketball defeats Hamden in overtime

St. Joseph defeated Hamden 76-72 in overtime of their consolation game at the Notre Dame-West Haven Christmas Tournament on Thursday.

The Cadets trailed for most of the fourth quarter but sent it to overtime by deadlocking things at 61-61.

In the overtime, Will Sydnor and Johnny Niv hit three-pointers to open the extra session as the Cadets scored the first 12 points of the overtime.

Ethan Long led St. Joseph with 20 points. Niv added 17 points and Sydnor 16 points.

Caleb Harris led Hamden, with 14 points. Derrell Redd and De’Andre Coardes had 13 apiece.

Notre Dame defeated Bassick 86-47 in the title game.
