Trumbull girls’ indoor track coach Nick Banks was pleased with the Eagles performance at the New Balance Games held at the Armory Track and Field Center (NY).

“Kali Holden and Evelyn Marchand did great at the Armory,” Banks said. “Kali medaled in her all three of her events. Evelyn medaled in the 600. Both did so against the top competition in the tri-state area, so we are excited to see what they both can do in states (Feb. 11).”

Holden earned fifth place finishes with personal best times in the 1000-meter final 3:04.13, the 1500 Invitational 4:51.86 and the One-Mile Invitational 5:12.18.

Lucy Ferreira, Olivia McCrea, Marchand and Holden are team captains.

“Our team is led by our seniors,” Banks said. “They have been integral in helping our younger athletes grow and mature, particularly with our hurdlers Celine Bozukluian and Alyssa Andrews, who have been able to qualify for state competition. The sprinters have Lucy Ferreira and Olivia McCrea doing the same things, and Kali and Evelyn lead our distance group.”

Evelyn Marchand, Ella Peterson, Ishita Singh and Sophia Bennett were 8th in 4:32.02 in 4x400 relay. Kathryn Marchand was 10th in the 2-mile Invitational with a personal best 11:44.42. Abigail Poplawski was 11th with a personal record time of 11:45.92 in the 3000-meter finals.
