No. 7 Trumbull sweeps FCIAC girls cross country quad meet

The seventh-ranked Trumbull High girls cross country team went 3-0 in an FCIAC quad-meet against Staples (22-33), St. Joseph (15-50), and Westhill (15-50) on Tuesday

Trumbull senior captain Kali Holden won the 3.1-mile race on the St. Joseph campus in 19:46, leading the race from start to finish. It was Holden’s third first-place finish on the season.

Senior captain Evelyn Marchand (20:47) and junior Abigail Poplawski finishing third and fourth, respectively.

Sophomore Leela Kocinsky placed sixth (21:30), while classmates Isabel O’Brien (21:53) and Bridget Walsh (21:55) were eighth and 10th, respectively. Junior Gabby Pavlov finished 14th (22:42).

The Eagles return to action on Saturday when they participate in the 49th annual Manhattan College XC Invitational at Van Courtlandt Park in the Bronx before traveling to Fairfield next Tuesday for a quad meet against Fairfield Ludlowe, Darien and Stamford.
