Augusta, Maine, lost a 6-1 lead with 2 out in the top of the seventh, then rallied for a 7-6 victory over Brattleboro, Vt., in a 14-inning, three hour and 10 minute marathon in the first game of Saturday’s pool play in the Regional Babe Ruth Tournament at Trumbull High School.

Augusta (1-1 in pool play) led 4-0 after 1, and tacked on two more in the bottom of the sixth before Brattleboro’s one-out onslaught in their final regulation at-bat on four hits, a walk, a hit batsman and two errors.

Brattleboro (0-2 in pool play) had runners in scoring position throughout the extra frames and left bases loaded twice.
