Ethan Hughes to play lacrosse at St. Michael's College

Ethan Hughes out of Trumbull High is one of 19 incoming freshmen joining the Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse program.

"We are beyond excited to get the Saint Michael's lacrosse Class of 2025 on campus this fall," head coach Alex Smith said on smcathletics.com. "This group really complements our returning core and should provide a ton of competition and depth at all positions.”

Hughes was a team captain and midfielder for coach Jim Kammerman at Trumbull. He scored 43 goals with 32 assists for 75 points as a senior when the Eagles went 9-8. Hughes had 15 goals as a sophomore. The pandemic denied him a junior season.

“The recruiting process was difficult for student-athletes and coaches alike during the past two years. We are thrilled that we were able to assemble such a talented group during this challenging time,” said Smith, who enters his fifth year guiding the Purple Knights in the Division II Northeast-10 Conference.

“I expect a good number of these young men will be competing for major playing time early in their careers, and I look forward to what they will be able to accomplish in their times at Saint Michael's.”
