Barbato makes eight 3s, Trumbull girls rally past Danbury

The Trumbull girls’ basketball team dominated the second half when the visiting Eagles defeated Danbury 62-43 to complete its regular season at 10-2 on Monday.

Trumbull went on a 25-9 run in the third quarter to rally past Danbury (7-4), which took a 26-19 lead into the half.

Cassi Barbato knocked down eight 3-pointers and led coach Steve Tobitsch’s squad with 33 points. Emma Gentry scored 11 and Grace Lesko eight.

Tiana Rogers scored 14 points for Danbury.

Trumbull, seeded third, will host No. 12 Westhill (2-8) in the FCIAC round of 16 playoffs on Wednesday at 5:30.

Danbury, seeded seventh, will host No. 10 New Canaan (5-7) Wednesday at 4:30.
