Senior Maura Carbone scored one goal and assisted on another as visiting Trumbull defeated Danbury 2-1 in a FCIAC field hockey contest at Stadium Field.
Carbone gave Trumbull a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the game when she converted off a feed from classmate Lexi Santoro. It was Carbone’s team-leading 10th goal of the season.
With just 20 seconds remaining in the first half, sophomore Nola Antonio scored her third goal of the season, taking a long pass from Carbone and converted on a goal to make it 2-0.
After a scoreless third quarter, Danbury’s Ana Silva made it 2-1 sneaking past the Trumbull defense. However, Trumbull’s defense, led by sophomore Julia Lorant and freshman Kiley Lucia, was able to hold off the Hatters to earn the victory, snapping a five-game losing streak.
Jenny Flynn made one save for Trumbull (5-6-1, 4-6 in FCIAC).
Jill Fitzpatrick made three saves for Danbury (2-9-0-1, 1-8-0-1 in FCIAC).
