Victims of serious Route 111 crash in Monroe in stable condition
MONROE — A motorcyclist and their passenger are in stable condition Friday after a serious crash on Route 111 Thursday night, police said.
The crash happened around 7 p.m. Thursday, causing police to close Route 111 between Elm Street and Gaybower Road as the department’s serious accident investigation team processed the scene and investigated. By 5 a.m. Friday morning, the roadway had reopened.
Capt. Keith White said a motorcycle — with a driver and a passenger — were headed south on Route 111 by Elm Street when a Jeep Grand Cherokee tried to turn left into the Monroe Plaza Shopping Center and hit the motorcycle. The names of the motorcycle driver and its passenger have not yet been released.
“The driver of the motorcycle and the passenger were taken to Bridgeport Hospital with serious injuries,” White said.
He said medics evaluated the driver of the Jeep on scene.
The driver of the motorcycle and the passenger were listed in stable condition at Bridgeport Hospital on Friday, White said.
