James Tracy Elovich, age 92, formerly of Trumbull, husband of the late Jean Ford Elovich, passed away on January 27, 2014 in Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his daughters. Mr. Elovich was born in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Ralph and Josephine Elovich. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWll. On January 14, 1944, 70 years ago, his B-17 was shot down and he was taken as a POW until April of the following year when he was liberated. Mr. Elovich graduated from Hillyer College and received his MBA from The Harvard Business School. He worked his entire career as an executive for General Electric, during which time he led and directed the multinational operations of two companies with two plant sites in both Italy and London. Following his retirement, Mr. Elovich was a dedicated volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society. Survivors include his three daughters, Jodi Hoffmann and her husband William of Fairfield, Connecticut; Julie Collier and her husband Michael of McLean, Virginia and Jennifer Kolakowski and her husband Pierre of Fairfield, Connecticut; his son Greggory Elovich of Fresno, California; his sister Barbara Preli of Greensburgh, Pennslyvania; ten grandchildren including, Megan Elovich Martin, William and Charlie Hoffmann, Evan, Garrett and Tony Collier, Emma, James, Jack, Andrew and Josie Kolakowski and several nieces and nephews. He also was predeceased by his brother, William Elovich. Friends and family are invited to greet the family on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home-399 White Plains Road in Trumbull, Connecticut. Funeral services will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
