Victor Meskhishvili was born in Tbilisi, Georgia on January 2, 1927 to proud parents Revaz and Sidonia Meskhishvili. He grew up in Georgia and became a successful actor in the Georgian theatre community, playing on the famous Kutaisi theater stage. He continued his education in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1956, where he met his future wife, Maya, while acting and directing the university’s production of Romeo and Juliet. Maya was Juliet, and Victor was Mercutio.
Maya and Victor both pursued careers teaching at Tbilisi State University of Linguistics. They went on to marry and raise two daughters, Irina and Natalia.
