Obituary: Robert W. Halapin, 78, of Trumbull
Robert W. Halapin, age 78, of Trumbull, passed away May 5, 2014 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
Bob was born in Bridgeport to the late Frank and Rose Halapin and was a longtime Trumbull resident.
For over 40 years, he was an educator for the Westport Public School System and also taught graduate classes at Fairfield University and the University of Bridgeport. During his teaching career, he founded Halapin Learning Systems to pursue a lifelong passion to create his own reading program.
He and his wife, Rosemarie, were very involved with Family Life for the Diocese of Bridgeport for over 26 years and served as Directors for several years. He was a longtime member of the Killian Club.
Mr. Halapin is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemarie Walko Halapin of Trumbull; four children, Thomas Halapin of Trumbull, Lyn Barry and her husband Jeff of Naugatuck, Judith Bump and her husband, John of Stratford and Robert Halapin and his wife, Janet of Marietta, GA; one brother, Jack Halapin of Southbury; nine grandchildren Krista, Kaitlyn, Stefani and Alyssa Barry, Heather and Matthew Halapin, Amanda, Jenna and Emily Bump and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Friday at 9:00 a.m. directly at St. Theresa Church 5301 Main St. Trumbull. Interment in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford, CT. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 -8 P.M. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT.
