Obituary: Gloria T. (Small) Morgero, 89

Gloria T. (Small) Morgero, beloved wife of Peter J. Morgero for 68 years, passed away in Shelton, CT on November 26, 2014 at the age of 89 years old.

Gloria was born to the late Francis and Margaret Small in Richmond Hill, NY on November 5, 1925.

She met the love of her life, Peter, in 1941 and they married on June 30, 1946, after he returned from serving in the United States Marine Corps in World War II. They moved to Connecticut in 1957 and raised their family in Trumbull for 25 years.

During her years in Trumbull, Gloria was very active in St. Catherine of Siena Church in Trumbull serving in both the Ladies Guild and Altar Society for many years. Gloria retired from her position as Clerical Supervisor, Family Relations Support Division of the Superior Court, State of Connecticut in 1984 and moved to Florida. During their 30 years of retirement in Weeki Wachee, Florida, Gloria made many new friends and was very involved in activities and social events in their community including the Garden Club and Bridge Club.

Besides her strong catholic faith, the most important thing to Gloria was family and friends. She valued and treasured time spent with loved ones and made certain that those relationships stayed strong throughout her life.

In addition to her husband Peter, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Paula Morgero of Shelton with whom she resided; daughter, Karen DelVecchio of Trumbull; grandchildren Mario DelVecchio III, Jillian DelVecchio, Jessie DelVecchio, Robert Morgero, Heather DeNicola and Brittney Frankel; great-grandchildren, Zoe and Joseph; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carol and James Bochicchio and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Eschmann; brother and sister-in-law Warren and Frances Small; nephew, Richard Eschmann; mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Vito Morgero; sisters-in-law Anastasia Casazza, Dolores Robustelli, Ann Ellis, Pauline Moreno and Diana Morgero and brother-in-law Jerome Morgero.

Funeral services took place Tuesday at 10:00am from the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull and at 11:00am in Saint Catherine of Siena Church, Trumbull with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private.

The family would like to thank the staff of Synergy Home Care and Vitas Hospice for their compassionate care over the past several weeks.
