Obituary: Bruce Lyndon Sampson, 87, of Trumbull

Bruce Lyndon Sampson age 87 of Trumbull, passed away July 1, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Bruce was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 1,1927 to the late Lloyd and Marie (Hubner) Sampson. He was raised in Brooklyn, NY, married the love of his life, Elisa, in 1950 and moved to Trumbull in 1963 to establish Sampson Dental Laboratory. He worked along side his wife Elisa and daughter Lisa until his retirement in 2007.

Before starting his career in the dental technology industry, Bruce was a member of the U.S. Navy National Honor Guard assigned to President Truman in Washington D.C. where he served before many foreign and domestic dignitaries and officials. Bruce was a graduate of N.Y. Community College of Dental Technology.

Among Bruce’s many accomplishments, he was past president of the Connecticut Dental Laboratory Association and the National Association of Dental Laboratories. He was considered to be one of the best dental technologists in the country and he was regonized as such by his peers.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, racquetball and gardening and in his earlier years was a competitive speed skater and a marathon runner.

Bruce was predeceased by his beloved wife Elisa Gonzalez Sampson and his sister Noreen Carter.

He is survived by his daughter Lisa Sampson of Monroe and Craig Sampson of Montebello, NY; five grandchildren, Lauren and Adam DiIulio, Eliana, David and Jonathan Assouline-Sampson and two great grandsons, Elijah and L.J., his niece Cindy Whitmore and nephew David Carter.

Much gratitude is felt for the angels who lovingly cared for Bruce during his brief stay at Bridgeport Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held on September 20 at 11 a.m. at Newtown United Methodist Church in Sandy Hook.
