Obituary: Beth Nundy Simons, 71, of Trumbull

Beth Nundy Simons, 71, of Trumbull, CT, passed away on January 14th, 2015.

Mary Thomas Nundy and Lloyd Nundy gave birth to Beth Louise on May 3, 1943 in Westfield, NY.

Beth had an idyllic, small-town, rural childhood along with her deceased brother, Thomas, and sister, Kay Hall. She graduated with a BA from Buffalo State University. Beth organized church summer camps for many years, she was an extremely active member in the Trumbull school system while her four kids attended, and a beloved member of the Tashua neighborhood and Trumbull community.

Beth always had a graceful, positive attitude even though she had been fighting a disorder for 25+ years that restricted her to a motorized lark, though this never effected her mental faculties. She never complained, never wanted sympathy, never wanted you to worry about her - always worrying and caring about others. Through to the end, she fought to make sure the rest of us didn’t know what she was going through.

Stubborn, selfless and ever the protector for the ones she loved. Beth’s strength and sense of humor will be missed but we all have learned from her and gained so much from knowing her.

She has left her husband of nearly 50 years, Brian Simons, and her four children, Sam Simons of Easton, CT, Keith Simons of Monrore, CT, Mary Simons of Lincoln, VT, and Molly Simons-Smith of Monore, CT, daughter-in-law Amy Simons and son-in-law Reed Smith, nine grandchildren and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Her loving family was what kept her spirit as strong as it was.

Relatives and friends can greet the family at a memorial gathering celebrating her life on Saturday January 24, 2015 at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull from 1-3 p.m. A service will take place at 3 pm in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, her wishes were that memorial donations be made to Center For Family Justice, 753 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604 or any women’s shelter in your area.
