Letter: What's we've accomplished in four years
To the Editor:
As chairman of the Town Council the past four years, I have been privileged to lead an industrious and dedicated legislature to the adoption of four budgets, averaging a modest annual tax increase of 1.88%. Through a responsible combination of tax, grant and bond revenues, we increased road paving, pension funding and added police officers and needed snowplows and equipment to our public works.
Our commitment to education has funded full-day kindergarten and increased safety measures and technology in our schools while controlling class size for optimal learning experience.
I worked closely with First Selectman Timothy Herbst in the Emergency Operations Center during Hurricane Sandy and the blizzard of 2013. His tireless leadership coordinated the efforts of our emergency management forces, public works crews, police and firefighters with the utility companies to expeditiously return us to our daily lives from the cold and dark. We continue to fortify the town against any future emergency we may encounter.
Humbled by the confidence you have shown in me for 12 years service on the Town Council, I look forward to forging solutions to the challenges ahead to improve upon the nationally recognized great Town of Trumbull we are proud to call home.
