Letter: We need to restore balance in Hartford
To the Editor:
It has been an honor to serve the great people of Trumbull as your State Representative for the past two years, I am truly grateful for the trust you have placed in me. The work has been challenging and sometimes frustrating, however, it has always been rewarding.
Representing Trumbull has afforded me the opportunity to meet and work with many interesting people from both sides of the aisle, on a wide range of issues. I have done my best to represent the interests of all Trumbullites and fought hard for important issues facing our town.
Going forward our challenges are great. How do we find the balance between helping those in true need, while addressing some of the long neglected issues in Connecticut? We are certainly over taxed and over regulated, current policies are chasing our young people and retirees from their homes.
I believe our money is best left in Trumbull, letting local leaders decide how to allocate funds and resources according to municipal priorities. The state should support economic growth by investing and fixing our infrastructure, including our crumbling highways and Metro-North. We should not be bribing companies to keep their businesses and the state should not be in the business of using taxpayer money to pick winners and losers.
I believe our state has a bright future, but not if we continue the massive tax increases and excessive spending currently put forth in Hartford. We need to restore balance to Hartford. I promise to be part of the fix not part of the problem, and with that I humbly ask for your vote on Nov 4th.
State Rep. Dave Rutigliano
