To the Editor:
Professionally, I am in my 25th year as a practicing attorney in Connecticut. My law firm practices in the areas of municipal law, construction law, business law and civil litigation. Personally, my wife (Suzanne) and I have three children, ages 19, 17 and 13. Prior to being elected to the BOE in 2013, I served on the Town Council (District 2) from 2011-13. I ran for the BOE in 2013 because I appreciate the value of education, my skill set makes me an asset to the BOE and I want to support the community in which I live. I seek re-election because although the BOE has accomplished quite a bit over the past two years, we endeavor to be the best and have more work to do. Some of our BOE team accomplishments in the past two years include: implementation of full-day kindergarten; restructuring facilities management, including hiring a facilities director; performance-based contracting; hiring a new athletic director; hiring a new director of curriculum; implementing additional school security upgrades and safety planning; smart budgeting (i.e., maximizing value for students and staff while being responsible to taxpayers); participation in and successful resolution of collective bargaining negotiations.
