Letter: Student says Tesoro will support youth and the arts in Trumbull

To the Editor:
I am a rising senior at THS and an active member of the Trumbull Youth Association, and I am proud to support Vicki Tesoro for first selectman.
For years, Vicki has shown her commitment to the youth of Trumbull, a constituency often ignored in town politics. As a PTA member, Town Council Representative, TPAUD chairwoman, and parent, she has proven she cares about the young people who are the future of this town, and has put actions behind her words.
In her platform, Vicki pledges to support not only the Trumbull Youth Association but also the arts in Trumbull. She also sees the value in improving the Trumbull school system by helping to create a more challenging curriculum and expanding learning and technological opportunities.
As a student and participant in both town and school theater, I find these goals incredibly important, because the arts and education have been neglected in Trumbull over the past few years. The current administration’s attempts to defund TYA and limit the arts and the education budget have greatly disturbed me. I know other students are as excited as I am for renewed support from our town government.
I await the spirit of cooperation and respect that Vicki will reinvigorate in our town, and look forward to the educational possibilities under such a responsive leader.
