Letter: Gratitude for Trumbull Early Childhood Education Center

To the Editor:

As another school year comes to an end, I again want to express my sincere gratitude for everything that the Trumbull Early Childhood Education Center (TECEC) has done for our family. Our son, Jimmy, started at TECEC in the August 2014, barely communicating in single-word phrases. The team at TECEC worked diligently on an individualized education plan that would allow him to be successful and thrive in the Trumbull Public Schools. Shortly after arriving at TECEC, the team conducted testing and my son was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. While many families might see this as a negative, the diagnosis opened up a world of resources for my son, including access to a specialized resource classroom, speech services, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. The entire team has gone above and beyond to ensure his successes, including setting up home visits, family meetings, etc. The teachers and staff are not only preschool teachers! They have taught our entire family strategies to best help our son be successful, not only in school, but in the world! And they have always approached our son with warm smiles and seem genuinely eager to see him- no matter how early in the morning it is. Although we are sad to be leaving TECEC, we are so grateful for everything that the school has done to prepare our son to thrive in kindergarten! They have given us the best gift- we are now completely able to engage and have full conversations with our son! We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful school and wonderful teachers and staff, who are genuinely wonderful people, working with our kids here in Trumbull. Thank you again for everything you’ve done for us! Your hard work and dedication to Jimmy, through successful early intervention, will no doubt have a profound and lasting impact on his life. We cannot thank you enough!
