Letter: Confident in Dave Rutigliano
To the Editor:
I am writing to express my strong support of David Rutigliano, who is running for reelection to the Connecticut House of Representatives 123rd district.
Dave has built businesses from the ground up. He understands firsthand what it is like to work within a budget, how to prosper within the revenue available and has an inability/unwillingness, to simply raise prices, the way our government raises taxes at will.
In May of 2011, Gov. Malloy signed the largest tax increase in Connecticut’s history, the bill passed with the votes of virtually every Democrat in Hartford. Not only was this a historic tax increase, it was retroactive! Technically, the Governor, and freshman legislators in Hartford that year, taxed you before they were even formally sworn into office.
I have never been a “partyline” guy — I vote for people, not parties. I support Dave because I know he is honest, hard-working, and shares my love of family and friends.
I know Dave views our state budget with the same scrutiny as his business. I am confident that he will continue to fight for common sense in Hartford, he will strive to work within our revenue stream. He understands that raising taxes isn’t the solution, it’s the problem, especially as we continue through these tough economic times.
Having the pleasure to know Dave personally over the last several years, I can, and do, endorse, and support him with the utmost confidence, that he is the right man, at the right time, to represent us in the State of Connecticut, House of Representatives.
