William Edward Russo went to be with the Lord Jesus on Saturday, January 17th, 2015. William or “Bill” as most of his friends and family called him, was 90 years old.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of nearly 70 years, Doris McClune Russo. Bill is also survived by his four children, Bill Russo of Farmington, Maine, Patty Corey of Trumbull, Teresa Russo Labak of Woodstock and David Russo also of Trumbull.

His eyes would light up when he talked of his twelve beloved grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was born on October First, 1925 to Patrick and Mamie Russo and was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War Two. Upon returning home he worked for the Trumbull Post Office. He was also employed by the Trumbull Recreation Department for over 40 years during which time he started the popular town Roller-Skating Program earning the nickname, “Mr. Roller-skating”.

He supervised the Town’s outdoor pools, Men’s Basketball League and Open Gym Program. He also was a long-time High School Football Official. A devoted member of the Black Rock Congregational Church for more than 50 years, he served the Lord in a multitude of ways including Head Usher.

Bill Russo will always be remembered as a sweet and gentle man who loved people, loved the Lord and would always give you a Peppermint lifesaver.

Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on January 23, DIRECTLY at Black Rock Congregational Church 3685 Black Rock Turnpike Fairfield. Interment will be private. Friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull.
