Sylvia S. Quinn, 100, beloved wife of the late Edward Quinn, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at her home at “Cottage Quinn” in Windsor.

Born in Trumbull on March 2, 1914 to the late Selma and John Stohl, she lived almost all of her life in Trumbull before moving to Windsor after she lost her only daughter, Margaret Q. Orloske, in the September 11th Terrorist Attacks in 2001.

She was an avid hiker all of her life, and was able to complete most of the northern half of the Appalachian Trail before hanging up her hiking boots. An avid swimmer, she did laps every morning until 2001, usually with one or more of her swimming buddies.

Sylvia was a lifelong member of the Connecticut Audubon Society and the family has suggested anyone wishing to make a donation in Sylvia’s name, to do so to: Connecticut Audubon Society; 314 Unquowa Road Fairfield, CT 06824.

No services are planned, per Mrs. Quinn’s wishes, but her ashes will be spread throughout the natural spaces she ‘so loved during her life.

Mrs. Quinn is survived by her grandson Stephen E. Orloske and several nieces, nephews, rediscovered cousins in Sweden, and a cadre of friends; many of whom celebrated her 100th Birthday with her this past March.
