Robert O. “Rusty” Kenney Jr., age 54 of Trumbull, beloved son of Dorothy Banas Kenney and the late Robert O. Kenney, passed away, Thursday, July 24, 2014 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center.

Rusty was born in Bridgeport, he was the first baby born to a Trumbull resident in 1960. He was a lifelong Trumbull resident, and was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. He spent his entire working career at Envipco in Naugatuck, where he was plant manager.

Rusty was a loyal patron of the St. Patrick’s Scholarship Fund Dinners of which his father was a founder. He was an avid fan and season ticket holder of the New York Jets, never missing a home game. He designed and built his own ski house in Townshend, VT, and spent most weekends there, skiing, fishing and working on the house. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephew, teaching them to ski, fish and play sports.

In addition to his mother survivors include, two brothers Michael A. Kenney and Kevin C. Kenney and wife Susanne, a sister Caroline A. Ruddy and husband Thomas all of Trumbull, three nieces and a nephew Megan and Erin Kenney and Alyssa Ruddy and Jacob Ruddy, Aunt Joni Banas of Shelton, “Uncle” Pete Pisaretz of Easton, five cousins Maureen Eddy of Little Compton, RI, James Kenney of Los Angeles, CA, Linda Sanchez of Milford, David and Richard Banas both of Bridgeport.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00a.m., meeting directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private at the convenience of family. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 7p.m. in the Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
