Mortimer William Berliner of Trumbull, CT and Fort Lauderdale, FL, died on October 1, 2014, beloved husband for 63 years of Janice Rosenfeld Berliner, father of Edward Berliner and Barbara of New Fairfield, CT, Andrew Berliner and Maureen of Weston, CT, James Berliner and Shirley of Newtown, CT., and also survived by ten grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, Hilda and Herbert Berliner.

Mr. Berliner was a graduate of Bronx High School of Science, Seton Hall University and holder of the CPCU designation. Nationally, he served his country in the Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater.

Locally, he volunteered his time as the Chairman of the Monroe Police Commission, served on the Land Acquisition Committee where he was instrumental in purchasing land for Chalk Hill Middle School and Fawn Hollow Elementary School. He was a member of the Exchange Club, and helped in the construction of the former Monroe library. Mr. Berliner was the founder of Berliner-Gelfand Insurance agency.

Funeral services will take place at The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, CT on Sunday the 5th of October at ten o’clock, followed by interment at the B’nai Israel Cemetery, 191 Kings Highway in Fairfield, CT.
